Prometheus Innovations, LLC was awarded a Department of Energy, Small Business Innovation Research grant to further develop and commercialize a composite polymer thin film coating that Prometheus has developed. The unique properties of the coating are that it reduces fluid drag across a coated surface, it is highly resistant to biofouling ( barnacle and mussel growth, mold and mildew), it sheds ice buildup, it is highly reflective of acoustic wave energy, and it is compopsed of low cost, readily available, non-toxic materials. The coating is easily applied without complex processes.
Prometheus Innovations, LLC has developed a composite thin film polymer coating comprised of an adhesive polymer binder and a micron-level particulate additive that when mixed and applied to a surface, presents several very beneficial properties That are of significant benefit to in multiple industries and in many aspects of human activity. These are a reduction in surface friction of fluid motion across the surface, soiling and biofouling resistance, generation and extreme enhancement of acoustic reflectivity, 90% to 100% light reflectivity, thermal and light insulation.
